AACO has been working in Ghana since 1989 and exists to raise funds for the benefit of the people of Ashanti Akim, a region about four hours drive north of the capital Accra. The population of 95,000 have 92 primary schools, 55 Junior Secondary Schools, but only 3 Senior Secondary Schools for those aged 15-19 to continue their education. AACO continues to be involved in a number of projects in the region with an emphasis upon health and education.
The first phase of this project, the construction of the |
| first 5 classrooms of the school, opened in September 2007. The task now is to undertake the second and even more challenging phase of operating the school and expanding the facilities to include 5 more classrooms, 5 new trade workshops, boarding facilities, some dedicated sports facilities, and the opening of the premises for health clinics and adult education. |
